How are Contributions Used?
Charitable contributions allow the Eye-Bank to fulfill its mission to restore sight by reaching beyond corneal transplantation to support eye and vision research, to provide humanitarian aid wherever it is needed, and to build community support for eye, organ and tissue donation.
The Gift of Sight
Charitable contributions make it possible for us to reduce or waive eye tissue processing fees for patients unable to afford medical procedures when a cornea transplant is required to restore sight.
Eye and Vision Research Program
Charitable contributions help to provide seed grants for research into the causes and cures of a wide range of blinding eye conditions. For those whose blindness cannot be reversed by a corneal transplant, our Eye and Vision Research Program becomes the Gift of Hope as they await an improved method of treatment or possibly a cure.
Professional and Public Education Programs
As a human service organization dedicated to sight restoration, it is essential that we educate the community about eye, organ and tissue donation. In addition, we have a social responsibility to focus our outreach efforts on eye injury prevention and eye health promotion. Charitable contributions provide funding for educational materials and awareness programs, which are crucial in our quest to restore and preserve sight.
